A Night of Swing Jive Music
Ruth Cockburn
Miss Nobodies
This two-hander play mixes poetry, storytelling and music, to tell the story of a local shop spanning 100 years from 1919 to present day.
Telling stories of the women that have made up
the shop’s history, whilst also showing how the lives of women have changed over the last century, this funny, poignant and heart-warming story will resonate with all ages and will make you think about what the next 100 years will hold for them.
Miss Nobodies, was inspired by outreach done online and in the community of Great Harwood alongside research into local history and prominent figures of Lancashire. This research uncovered stories of women like Ethel Carnie Holdsworth, a writer who worked in the mills in the early part of the last century. She is cited as the first working class, female novelist in the UK and parts of her poetry are used throughout the play to punctuate the story.
“Miss Nobodies- ordinary women, living extraordinary lives and superbly told this evening. A privilege to have seen this performance. Thought provoking and enjoyable.”
Audience member, Lancashire.

Lucy Stevens and Elizabeth Marcus
Gertrude Lawrence: A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening
The latest collaboration between gifted actor and singer, Lucy Stevens and pianist Elizabeth Marcus, presents the story of Gertrude Lawrence, one of Britain’s brightest theatrical stars during the first half of the 20th century. A charismatic stage presence who excelled in sophisticated musical comedy, this play with music tells her story; funny, revealing and full of music.
With songs from Music Hall and Variety, to Kurt Weil and Noel Coward. She tells of her childhood in Clapham: “... following the organ-grinder down the street, dancing and holding out my skirts ...a push from Mother, ‘Go on now Gertie ,sing your song’ was all the urging I needed.”
Gertie was soon performing in London’s nightclubs and revues, Noel Coward wrote Private Lives for her, and she went on to become the leading lady of the West End and on Broadway.
“Utterly brilliant performance – the whole audience was spellbound throughout.” London Song Festival.

Amazing tales elegantly told! Jackanory meets Whose Line Is It Anyway in this multi-award winning family show, where three top comedians are challenged to invent their own ridiculous tall-tales inspired by the Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
All they have are their wits, some silly hats and the (not always kind...) suggestions of an audience of children to ensure it all ends happily ever after.
There will be pirates and princesses, unicorns and dragons, swordfights and spacemen, and all the stories are completely and irrefutably true!
Winner: Best Children’s Show at Leicester Comedy Festival and Greater Manchester Fringe
